These fine carvings are a wonderful examples of American folk carving. This couple are sort of celebrities as similar examples were featured on the cover of the Autumn 2017 Antiques and Fine Art. They were highlighted as a part of the Pepi Gelinek collection. The carvings are very expressive where the wife is looking over her shoulder with an angry look. The husband is shocked by whatever mistake he has made.

WHY WE LOVE IT: Unfortunately, I know this look a little too well.
