Stoneware Pitcher

United States, Philadelphia

Attributed to Remmey

19th century

Stoneware, earthenware

Large stoneware pitchers are always neat to find.  This particular example has beautiful floral decoration on the front and is in very good condition.

WHY WE LOVE IT: The pitcher is the one form that has it all, from extruded handles to elegant shaped spigots.  This particular example, with the floral decoration, encompasses many of the great decorative elements that you see in American stoneware.
