Farm Scene Hooked Rug

American

Circa 1880’s

Wool on burlap

33″ H; 51.5″ W

This great hooked rug is full of character.  Hooked rugs made in the last 19th century were a wonderful way of self expression.  I always think the more outlandish a piece is, the more fun the artisan had making it.  I would love to know where this ruckus farm was located; I might’ve fit in!

WHY WE LOVE IT:  This hooked rug has a little bit of everything going on, from a guy riding a bull to a kid shooting a squirrel out of a tree. This would look great in any informal setting or a child’s bedroom.
