Key Trade Sign

American

19th century

Metal

11″ H; 22.25″ W

A key trade sign would’ve sign above the door of a locksmith shop.  This particular example has a great patina with evidence of being painted green at one point.

Provenance: Ex – Olde Hope Antiques

WHY WE LOVE IT: Originally used as a sign for a locksmith, this sign is a great conversation piece.  It is that object you can have in your house that none of your friends can immolate.  I would give it to my wife to unlock my large heart.
