Pair of Tole Painted Chestnut Urns

England

19th century

Tole painted pewter

7″ W; 12.5″ H; 4.5″ D

A pair of Regency tole peinte chestnut urns in burnt ember red.  One side shows cows on a hillside and the other side shows a man with a horse in front of a windmill.  Lion head mask handles on either side.  A banded flower motif is around the lid and the top of the urn.

WHY WE LOVE IT: Chestnut urns are one of those great British decorative items that really look great on a table scape or on a mantel.
