This settee represents a very small group of furniture produced in Salem in the 1820’s. Settees are one of the rarest forms of American furniture, and this example survives in wonderful condition.
Condition: Survives in very good overall condition retaining an early surface. Several minor veneer repairs on the crest. Carcass is in very fine condition, with evidence of two earlier upholstery treatments. Current upholstery by Walt Mullins.
