Windsor Bench

Pennsylvania

Cherry, poplar

Circa 1810-20

72.25″ W; 34.5″ H; 23″ D

This bamboo-turned Windsor bench, with cherry arms and poplar construction, was likely built in Pennsylvania around 1820.  The large single board seat and delicate turned legs give a fine presentation.

WHY WE LOVE IT: Windsor furniture has always been a mainstay in American design. This example, with its bamboo turnings, elegant, curved back and rich patina stands out.
