What really stands out about this painting is impressive. Each stroke is done with a specific intention. This is especially evident in the fur of Saint Bernard, blades of grass, and leaves of the tree. The large working dog lies front and center relaxing in the field with a stream present in the background to drink from. The condition of this pastel is excellent.
WHY WE LOVE IT: They say a dog is a man’s best friend and this saint bernard certainly warms our hearts. Just look at the face!
