Housed in a modern frame.  Born in Bedford Station, New York, artist Elizabeth Hunt Barrett studied in Europe and exhibited in New York, Philadelphia, and Chicago. She moved with her husband around 1915 to the Amherst, VA area across from Sweet Briar College where she regularly exhibited her art and gave painting lessons.

Provenance: From a Lynchburg, VA private collection.

WHY WE LOVE IT: Do Sweet Briar girls really have more fun?  Well, I don’t know but this is certainly a fine little painting!  Although it is little, it is fierce.
