Map of the Chesapeake

By A.F. Prevost de Exiles

French

Dated 1757

14.5″ H; 17″ W

Based off the famous Fry-Jefferson map a decade earlier. This map is one of the first to depict the town of Alexandria and shows great spellings of landmarks like the Patowmack River.

WHY WE LOVE IT: Any Alexandrian should love this map as it depicts the first example in cartography of the town of Alexandria, VA.
