Agate Teapot

Staffordshire
Lead-glazed agatewear
Circa 1755

Rare three-color agate teapot. As in this example, eighth-century T’ang dynasty Chinese wares inspired many eighteenth-century Staffordshire laid agatewares.
Identical to a teapot in the Colonial Williamsburg collection.

Why we love it:  Sometimes the smallest objects pack the biggest punch.
