The mate to this chest is in the Diplomatic Rooms of the State Department (See Treasures of State: Fine and Decorative Arts in the Diplomatic Reception Rooms of the U.S. Department of State, ed. Clement E. Conger, 1991, pg. 142-143) and descended in the family of Emily Willing Powell (1743-1830) of Philadelphia.
