Coffin Family Corner Chair

Massachusetts or Rhode Island
Circa 1760
Mahogany, chestnut seat frame

In an old and possibly original finish with scrolled arms and owl’s eye pierced splats. There is an old paper label on the interior of the seat frame marked: Daddy Coffin’s chair. Belonged to Ddg’s great great grandfather” -believed to be the prestigious whaling Coffin family of Nantucket.

Why we love it:  The Coffin family chased whales around the world and built beautiful houses on Nantucket.
