Western Maryland or Northern Virginia
Walnut, yellow pine
Circa 1810
This heavily inlaid chest of drawers with highly expressive figured walnut is a wonderful example of fine craftsmanship from western Maryland. Bold use of inlay and veneer provides drama to the interior. Chamfered corner columns with triple patterns of herringbone and banded inlay.
Why we love it: Furniture from this region is always great, especially when covered with as much inlay as this desk is.
