Molded Copper Weathervane of Patchen, A Trotting Horse

Attributed to New York City

Circa 1890

Copper, later metal stand

Bold weathervane commemorating the famous “Patchen” trotting horse. Very nice, weathered patina with traces of the original gilt.

WHY WE LOVE IT: The scale of this vane is so impressive. The architectural quality will always make people stop in their tracks to look at it.
