Pair of Recumbent Greyhounds

English

Circa 1900

Cast Zinc

20″ H x 13 1/2″ W x 48″ L

It takes many generations of being exposed to the elements to garden fixtures to develop a patina as wonderful as these. Likely made in England around 1900, these distinctive greyhounds are made of zinc and lead alloy. It is highly unusual to have great provenance with garden elements, but for generations, these greyhounds sat at the entryway of Blythewood in Columbia, Tennessee. Located in Maury County, Blythwood is a masterpiece of Italianate style in Middle Tennessee.

WHY WE LOVE IT: Patina and a dignified style make this pair of greyhounds a step above the rest.
