Paul Evans Patchwork Cabinet

Attributed to Paul Evans 1931-1987
Copper, plywood
H: 80”; W: 36” D: 19.5”
Circa 1967

Stunning copper patchwork cabinet by Paul Evans for Directional, produced in 1967. This incredible piece of design history is fabricated from patinated pieces of copper which have been welded and nailed in a patchwork style pattern resting on top of a patinated metal base.

Two doors open to a grain-painted interior with two drawers and shelving on a recessed base.

Condition: Approximately 12” x 18” of material was removed from the back in the past to accommodate a television. A new piece of plywood was applied to the back to conceal the hole and painted in a sympathetic manner to the original. Minor inpainting on the interior.

All work performed by Steve Leckemby of Libertytown, MD.
