Walnut
Circa 1760
This round-about chair survives with a beautiful patina. The rear crest block features unusual scroll carving that flow into the shaped arms. The chair has solid splats and arrow turned columns that transition into a balloon seat. The piece terminated with a single ball and claw foot in the front with pad feet on the remaining three legs. There is a four sided cross-stretcher that repeats the arrow turnings seen in the arms. The chair survives with its original walnut slip seat that retains the original 18th century under-upholstery.
Provenance: Ex Israel Sack.
