Dish Top Tea Table

Pennsylvania, Possible Chester County

Walnut throughout

Circa 1790

29 3/4 ” H x 34″ W x 34 1/2″ D

This beautiful walnut tea table was found in a Maryland collection. The piece is comprised of a two-board top with a finely turned dish molding that is supported by bird cage. The central shaft turning features a suppressed ball turning that is a unusual interpretation of the popular Philadelphia style as it is slightly larger than what is normally seen. The tripod base is consisting of three cabrio legs that are slightly peaked that flow into a simple pad foot. The close interpretation to the popular Philadelphia yet straying away from the standard points to an orgin in the counties surrounding Philiadelphis, possibly Chester County.
