Horse Hooked Rug

Late 19th century

Wool on burlap

This charming hooked rug depicts a horse standing in a green meadow with a white picket fence in the background.  Surrounding the horse is a chevron border in pinks, purples, greens, grays, and browns.  The piece terminates in a thick black hooked border.   Professionally mounted by Kathy Wilson of Point Pleasant, Pennsylvania.

WHY WE LOVE IT: Hooked rugs are great to put in informal settings as art. The bright colors and textures add warmth to any room.
