New York Andirons

Possibly Richard Whittingham

New York

Brass and iron

19th Century

23″ H x 10 1/2″ W x 18″ D

These andirons were found in a Connecticut estate. They consist of a stepped double-turned finial over a belted sphere with stepped plinth beneath, raised on spurred cabriole legs resting on ball feet. Iron log supports. While this pair is not signed, they are almost an exact match to examples made by Richard Whittingham of New York.
