Tin Flame Finial

American

Circa 1900

Tin

15 1/2″ H x 7″ W

Found in a great Washington D.C. folk art collection, this flame finial will catch anyone’s eye. It is very well rendered.

WHY I LOVE IT: I went to a small college in Danville, Kentucky call Centre College. There is a large flame statue in the middle of campus that represents the College’s motto, “Learning Is the Light of the Mind.” It also is a popular statue to go streaking around but I think this flame might be too small.
